One of the challenges facing todays System z (mainframe) advocate is selling the value of Linux or Cloud on IBMs zEnterprise to peers and management. This session affords a historical pespective and current conditions covering the cultural issues, real IT scenarios, and platform comparisons. Real studies that include Total Cost of Ownership /Acquisition, migration considerations, and actual success stories that leave you asking: Why do some get it while others dont?

10:30 AM Intellinx - A Real-time Auditing, Monitoring and Fraud Detection Solution for System z
Boaz Krelbaum will present a unique way to combat the insider threat within any type of organization using Intellinx. Intellinx is an innovative and unique software product for tracking end-user activity in internal business applications in heterogeneous platforms including System z. Intellinx introduces a new dimension in auditing and fraud detection - the ability to record the interaction of all end-users with all the central applications, zoom-in on specific suspicious user activity and replay every screen accessed and every keystroke within an application as if looking over the end-user's shoulder. Intellinx business rule engine tracks end-user behavior patterns triggering alerts on suspicious events in real-time.
The speaker will be Boaz Krelbaum, co-founder of Intellinx Ltd.

1:30 PM zView/zPro Update
As a graphical interface to performance information, zView from Velocity Software, is evolving. Velocity Software's web administration and cloud infrastructure platform for z/VM, zPro has undergone some changes in the past year as well. This presentation will show the changes in the products and what can be expected in the future.
The speaker will be Rich Smrcina of Velocity Software, Inc.

Have you found yourself with an out-of-date SUSE Linux VM? Here are the official ways to get you on the right track to updating to a newer version or service pack. We will discuss several methods of updating, and review your checklist of items to ensure success.
As a bonus, we will demonstrate how easy it is to update to the next service pack using SUSE Manager - SUSE's management tool for your entire enterprise linux portfolio.

Members will attempt to answer any reasonable VM or hardware related questions. If you are having a problem and want to find out if others are experiencing it, or you are installing new hardware or software and want to find out what types of problems others have experienced, here is the place to find out.
Members are encouraged to bring ideas for future presentations and speakers to this meeting.


Meeting Location:

This quarter's meeting will be held at the Aon Hewitt 'East Campus' located at 100 Half Day Road, in Lincolnshire, IL. Attendees are asked to enter through the "Security Link" between the 100 and 98 buildings.
